Description
The Sombrero Galaxy (M 104) is located at the border of Virgo and Corvus, about 31.1 million light-years away. It has a bright core, an unusual central bulge, and a distinct dust belt in the outer disk that can be seen almost from the edge. The dark dust belt and bulge make it look like a straw hat, which is also the origin of the name of the Sombrero Galaxy.
