Description
I headed out to the observatory last night to reconfiger the rig ready for imaging Venus with my new Baader U filter. I wasn't expecting to image anything, just using the bright Moon through clouds to ceck that I coud get focus as I swapped between cameras with and without the Baader barlow and with and without the ADC. For Venus in UV I need to run with minimal glass so no barlow or ADC (some even remover the sensor cover glass as that also eats UV), but I will want to easily switch between configurations for Venus and Mars/Jupiter. I had to use the C14 focus position to give me adequate range with the Moonlite electronic focuser, so it was definitely worth experimenting, but I think I'm now good to go. What was unexpeceted was that the sky briefly cleared, so I then did some fine tuning on Mars, including a couple of 6min SERs with both the ADC and Baader Classic Q x2.25/x1.3 Barlow, so operating at an effective F21, compared with the F13 I get without the Barlow.
