Description
NGC 7217 is located in the constellation Pegasus and is an unbarred spiral galaxy, approximately 50 million light-years away. Its main feature is multiple concentric stellar rings surrounding its nucleus. The outermost ring is the most prominent and is the region where gas and star formation are most concentrated. Additionally, there are several smaller rings within the innermost ring, which were discovered through the Hubble Space Telescope. This characteristic suggests that the central region of NGC 7217 has undergone multiple starburst events. Furthermore, the galaxy has a very large and massive spheroid that extends beyond its disk.
