Description
The Cygnus region is truly a showroom of celestial artwork. We often focus on the very bright North America and Pelican nebulas on its tail, IC1318 and Crescent on its tail or the Veil Bubble under its wing. Here I went for the head, and the border with Vulpecula. The image is crossed diagonally with dark nebulas forming a black river that seem to split the region in two. The top right region contains Albireo and M56. The bottom left region holds the most prominent object in the image, the Dumbbell Nebula (M27). Over the dark river itself, as they were carefully placed just there, bright nebulas NGC6820 and Sh2-88 shine as colorful islands.
