Description
Magnificent indeed is the realm of Lrrr, ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8, of which parent star, ο Per or Atik, is despicted here down the center, near the nebula LBN 749, crossed by the dark nebula B3. NGC1333 stands out at the lower right, somewhat asking for more attention with longer focal lengths. But the most prominent and obvious object in the field is of course NGC 1499, the California Nebula, a celestial brushstroke of hydrogen ionized by the giant O7 star Menkib,
ξ Per, surrounded by faint molecular clouds.
This is the result of combining two sessions carried out last year from different locations: Sierra de Hornachos (Badajoz, Extremadura, peninsular Spain) in late july and Puntagorda (La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain) in late september. Somehow I managed to set different exposure times and framing by mistake, so yeah, I live recklessly like that.
