Description
This was my first night this summer under SoCal skies testing out the new added OAG to my CT8 Newtonian, running focus offset calculations and other tests. My problem last year with a guiding scope on top of the Newtonian was that below a certain altitude, my subs turned unusable due to stars literally running away... The OAG resolved this issue. The night had below average seeing conditions but at least I did not see any of the problems I had last year. The subs were neither of great quality and I debated for 2 weeks if I should even process them... Thanks to Bill Blanshan's BlurXTerminator, the data was recoverable.
In the last 2 weeks (mostly cloudy) I have been working on an upgraded wheelie cart for my new iOptron tri-pier and NYX 101 mount which will replace the Atlas II mount and carrying the CT8 Newtonian for this coming season. Correction - NYX 101 came and left - New mount is now the CEM70ec
