Description
The Flame and Horsehead Nebula
This is my first attempt at this target. I had chosen another target but spent too much time trying to find it with my manual system so at a suggestion from Steve Lantz I imaged this easy to find DSO. This is an easy DSO to find, hard to post process with the bright star Alnitak there in the field of view.
My plan was to take 120 images of the DSO once I was aligned, focused, and guiding but getting a late start plus the 25 degrees F (-2.9 C) cold changed my mind. I set the camera to shoot half that amount last night and try the other half tonight but my clear sky night will be too short tonight.
Gear: modified Canon T7i with the Sigma 150-600 mm lens (this was shot at 403 mm). This was mounted on the iOptron SkyGuider Pro using and ZWO 125 mm scope for alignment and guiding. I used Sharp Cap for alignment and PHD2 for guiding. I shot 60 images but Deep Sky Tracker only used 51 images. Each image had an exposure of 60 seconds, so not to bad for 51 minutes of integration.
