Description
Finally my efforts with Comet Academy are becoming real. When I made my "guide" (attached here --> 12P_Pons_Brooks.pdf) to observing this comet it was back in January when it was still quite faint and less available. Now future me is enjoying what past me had hoped for. lol
Unfortunately the conditions have been very difficult. There are literally 25 minutes to work on this object. On this night the winds were blustery and the telescope was shaking... but what can I do? It is either try or miss it! On this night the comet was experiencing an outburst of brightness. I couldn't *not* try.
The attached image shows how much the telescope was swaying...the satellite trail records the signature.
And this was not the only challenge! I am uploading the video the records me processing this image. Many people often request I process less-than-perfect data... well, this is a good example!
If you haven't tried for the comet yet (and it is possible for you to see it)- I highly recommend it. See my guide I am attaching for your enjoyment- or better yet, get Comet Academy. :)
