Description
LDN 238 is part of the bright emission region (very large) of SH2-27. Just to the East of this field is the small sea horse shaped dark nebula. This "bright" part has a few ionized regions- likely from Zeta Ophiuchi. The very fact this field is completely within SH2-27 is of some consequence since the background sky has a red bias. I discuss this as well as normalization issues with both the new Find Background script (Seti Astro) as well as Normalize Scale Gradient. This new content is in Horizons and is exactly the kind of more detailed (non-default) dive into tools that is not found in Fundamentals (members of my site undersand this sentence... lol).
