Thank you very very much

Great image! I will have to add this to my list of stars to follow. Variable nebulae are very interesting. It is not uncommon for the nebula to only gradually react to the causative star's output. While there may be various reasons, the reason I think is really cool has to do with the fact that these nebulae can be several light years in extent and if the star erupts quickly, it literally takes the light a year or more to spread out across the surface of the clouds being illuminated. Such is the case for McNeil's nebula in M78, which now seems to be dark. If one is lucky enough to catch an erupting star early enough, imaging the otherwise dark nebula over weeks, months and years could catch a cool animation that actually shows the speed of light as it transits from the star across the light years of the cloud.

This target is very very intriguing. M78 is another that I truly enjoy!

Very nice

Thank you SO MUCH

Hi Dawn. I am comfortable with Pixinsight but what is INVERT SCNR?
Thanks,
scott
Thanks,
scott

I had some residual magenta: I inverted the image and applied SCNR. (its also used as a possible tactic against those pesky magenta stars too.

Thank Dawn, I have learned a new PI process!

Waaw.
Great job Dawn.
Congrats,
Eddy
