Description
NGC 3486 is a beautiful spiral galaxy with a kind of super-symmetry in its design.
It is relatively nearby galactically speaking- and you can tell just by looking at it.
The bluish stellar associations with their massive OB stars as well as HII regions that
have hints of extended size and structure all hint that these partially resolved features are in a galaxy
not very far away. (NGC 3486 is around 30 million light away based on its recessional velocity.)
